Diana Marie Cox (Bland)

Marital status: Married
Children: 1
Occupation: Special Ed Teacher
Comment: Thank you for all your hard work on this site!

I live outside of Austin (Bastrop) in the country, which thankfully just missed getting burned this summer.   I remarried almost 11 years ago. My husband, Tom  and I perform in a classic rock band.  "Backtrax" singing 60's classic rock.  He is the lead guitarist. I do vocals and percussion.  We, along with my daughter Jessica (25)  live with LOTS of animals that have been rescued over the years. We have 3 horses, 2 miniature donkeys, 5 dogs,3 cats, birds, fish etc!

For those who remember, in the early 80's I owned a pet store.

I went back to school after my divorce in 1991 and started a second career,  teaching severely handicapped 3-5 year olds.  This is what I was meant to do when I grew up.  (if I ever grew up!).  I teach in Austin ISD and work with many children with autism with the help of my therapy dog, Lucy.

Marital status: Committed Relationship
Children: 2
Occupation: Business Owner
Comment:

Now living in the Missouri capital of Jefferson City. I have been a mostly single parent to my 2 daughterswho are grown. Kari is attending MSU supposedly majoring in fashion merchandising. Kelli is getting ready to attend Licoln University to seek a degree in nursing.

Ultimately, I did attend university classes at SMSU taking Russian history and language. No degree, but did gain a conversational level of the language (enough to get me into trouble....and, hopefully enough to get me out). Needless to say I have had many very interesting travels and have a wealth of very loyal friends, acquaintances and experiences.

My businesses involves commercial and residential foundation stabilization and repair, and most types of water control. Given recent catostrophic events, my companies are currently attempting to acquire state contracts for bridge stabilization, repair and maintenance in Missouri and Iowa.

Healthwise I should be on the "gone" list. That said, I am still here and hope to attend our next reunion and hope to see many familiar faces and smiles.

Comment: Idid not graduate with your class but I did know most of you.  I am glad that everyone is getting together. It will be such a happy event.  I am living with my mother because she is in her wheelchair all of the time know.  She does not need help all of the time so it leaves me time to do my artwork.

Mary De La Garza (Cecil)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Director - Corporate Communications for Idearc Inc.
Comment: I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in journalism.  I married while in college and divorced 10 years later.  I raised my two daughters on my own.  Just three years ago, I met the man of my dreams - Frank De La Garza - who has been a fireman with the City of Dallas for more than 20 years.  My two daughters graduated from college and now are off the payroll and flying on their own!  My oldest - Jennifer - is working on a master's degree with an eye toward obtaining a doctorate degree and teaching at the university level.  My second daughter - Katie - is an RN who works as a labor and delivery nurse at Baylor.  I have a beautiful granddaughter - Zoe Michelle - who hung the moon.  She is just adorable and has stolen my heart away.  I have been in corporate communications my entire career and am just about two years out from retiring from the corporate rat race and starting something - not sure what - brand new.  Both my parents have passed away and not a day goes back that I don't think about them.

Marsha Deere (Mikkelsen)

Marital status: Divorced
Children: 1
Occupation: Recovering Attorney
Comment: I doubt that there is near enough room here to give a real run down of my life since high school, but here goes:

married; divorced; baby, Adrian, the greatest gift of my life who changed my life in every way good and right and showed me how to live life to the fullest through his 27 year long courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis; TJC; married; TU; divorced; TU Law; Navy JAG for 12 years with duty stations around the world and onboard the USS Nimitz (CVN 68); married; divorced; married; divorce; Corporate attorney in San Diego and Washington, DC; ran away from it all to Key West where I practiced law and lived on my sail boat sailing the beautiful Caribbean; lost my best friend and son Adrian; left Key West; substitute taught in St. Augustine; volunteered for the Peace Corps and taught English in Ukraine; back to Key West where I live with my cats and pretend to practice law.

It might be an oversimplification to say I've had a varied and full life. No complaints and no excuses. Just life.  Hope to make the 40 year reunion. If you plan on coming to the end of the road here in Key West, let me know. Love to see old classmates.
